PTAC units usually don't come with a wall sleeve, whether you're buying a new PTAC unit or a refurbished PTAC unit. It's important to have a sleeve that is intact and free of rust or corrosion to ensure a proper barrier between the interior of the walls and the unit itself.
Even if your existing Amana PTAC unit is 20 years old, a new unit may fit into the existing sleeve. To be sure, measure your existing wall sleeve. If the dimensions are 42” Wide x 16” High x 14” Deep, then your new or refurbished PTAC unit will slide right in.
The PTAC industry has been using these standard dimensions for nearly 40 years now, so it's most likely that whatever PTAC you have will fit into this Amana PTAC unit sleeve, no matter the age.
